Story

To celebrate the grand opening of the new Gotham Aquarium, Bruce Wayne and many others of Gotham's elite are being given a tour there. As they are viewing the many displays of unique and varied sea life, the Aquarium is attacked by Ocean Master, lading Orca and King Shark. Bruce quickly suits up and calls in the assistance of Aquaman.

Batman, Aquaman and Mera manage to take down Orca and King Shark, and they then begin to pursue Ocean Master through the Aquarium. Ocean Master is cornered but when Aquaman grabs him they both are beamed away leaving a message saying, "In blackest day, in brightest night, beware your fears made into light, let those who try to stop what's right, burn like my power... Sinestro's might!"

Batman goes to the Hall of Justice to warn the team about Aquaman's disappearance and the strange message left in his place. Green Lantern tells the league that the message is the Sinestro Corps' oath and that he can use his ring to track where the beam came from. Superman splits the League into two teams, one to go with Hal and one to remain on Earth. Green Lantern, Batman, Adam Strange, Blue Beetle, Black Canary and Hawkgirl go into space while Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Vixen and Martian Manhunter remain on Earth.
